First Direct Personal Loan Default-HELP

HiI would be very grateful if anyone can help me with this one.I got into terrible debt when I was only 19 and was left homeless as a result.I had a 8,000 personal loan with First Direst and a 1,500 overdraft. When I was made homeless I did not inform the bank that I would be leaving the address as it happened very quickly and I had too much to deal with for a long time.It is now 8 years later and a few other minor creditors that I had have caught up with me and I have maanged to pay them off now that I am more settled and working.However, I am still very fearful and worried about my debt with First Direct. I have searched the registry trust to see if First Direct took out a CCJ on me. However, although the record came back as clear I understand that they only keep records for 6 years and it has been over 8 since I last made a payment against the debt.I want to find out if a CCJ has been made against me because if it has not I am told the debt is now statute barred. However, I dont know how to get this information. They have never tried to contact me although I am on the electoral register. Does anyone have any advice or experience with First Direct. I am more worried now than ever because for the first time I am back on my feet again and I fear they will try to take everything I have if they catch up with me. I would prefer to deal with this but need to know where I stand. I am not evens sure if First Direct always take you to court or maybe would just sell the debt on.I would be grateful for any help or advice someone could offer.Thanks
