Old repossession help please

Hi,
I bought a flat in 1992 with my then boyfriend. We split up and the flat was subsequently repossessed and sold in 1997. There was a shortfall of around £11,000. I have been paying (admittedly only a small amount of £20 per month to Shoosmiths) for about 15 years. Octobers payment was not taken from may bank so I called Shoosmiths who informed me their client had instructed another firm of solicitors and I should wait to hear from them. Last week I had a letter from Drydens Fairfax who said they were taking over the debt and I should contact them. The debt is now £9,500 - whilst I agree I should pay the debt back what I don't agree with is the other borrower has made no effort to repay any of the debt. I don't know his whereabouts so should I be responsible for all that is owed? Also I have been with my current partner for the past 20 years, we are not married but hold a joint mortgage and bank account, will Dryden Fairfax expect him to contribute financially to my repayments? Help please.

You are jointly and severally liable for the debt with your then boyfriend.
Your current partner is not liable for your debts."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
Thanks maninthestreet, in that case do you know whether it's up to Drydens Fairfax to find out where my ex-boyfriend is for his share as he has made absolutely no contributions in the last 15 years!
Drydens Fairfax have asked me to contact them. Am I within my right to blank out any incomings from my current partner on our bank statements? - they will no doubt ask to see these.0 -
