And it gets "fixed" when the new State Pension comes in in 2016!

But you are too "early" to get that.

Just curious, how does it get fixed? Payday no longer based on last two digits of NI number?

    Thanks everyone for your replies.
All comments noted, particularly JezR who says...
"You might well have expected that something could be done about this now that payments aren't all made on the same day, but are spread around the week and that the computer has been invented."

No. The first payment includes the "odd days" for the period from the date of entitlement (usually the SPa date but does not have to be if claimant as deferred) to the payday.

Payday is still calculated from the NINO.

The current system pays this period for certain people an a working age benefit immediately the SPa date.

So, just to be clear. For those reaching SPa after April 2016, the day of payment will still be based on the NI number, but the first payment will include a sum relevant to the period from date of SPa and the date of payment.

I'm not fussed either way, I'm just curious.

The date of entitlement and the claiming from date will be the SPa date. The first payment will include a payment of "odd days" to cover the part week up to the first payday. The payday will be calculated as now.
