Morning All,
Hoping somebody can give me some suggestions on how to tame my daughter's hair!
She is just 3 and has very fine, wispy hair. She has a bath every night and has her hair washed. I spray a leave in condition in and give it a brush through. When she goes to bed she has lovely, soft ringlets in her hair. Then come morning her hair looks like a bird's nest! The back of her head is thick with knots which I struggle to brush and even spraying a detangler onto it doesn't work!
At my wits end with her hair and the morning battle to brush it! Any suggestions on any good products? I have been recommended to cut her hair short as it is still very fine, almost like baby hair, but I can't bring myself to do that!
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks,

Could you plait it to stop it getting tangles in the night or wash it in the morning?0
-
You could put it in rags or nice plaits, like Sam said above.0
-
Could you wash it less? Too much washing will dry out anyones hair and at that age, she won't produce enough oil for it to look greasy. At that age they need all the natural oils they can get. Try only washing 2 or 3 times a week.0

Wash it less (or just rinse it, but no shampoo) and plaits were my first thoughts. A smoother satiny pillowcase or sheet may help if neither of those work. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

i agree with others, if you do nothing else, plait her hair before she goes to bed (my DD has very long hair so we do 2 loose plaits in her hair before bed).
Cuts the knots down loads, especially at the nape of the neck.0 -
Thanks for the advice so far. Unfortunately she has learning difficulties and struggles with using a fork, spoon etc so she ends up with lots of food in her hair, hence the need to wash every night. Also she has just started nursery and comes home covered in paint, glitter etc! I would struggle to wash it in the morning as we have such an early start already. I did try the plait idea but her hair is not quite shoulder length so I couldn't get much in the plait but I'll see what it's like in the morning. I hadn't thought of a satin pillowcase, will give that a try! Thanks.0

We use a proprietary "Tangle Teezer" but I think you can buy knock off versions of them in Home Bargains/Poundshop for £1 or so. I also spray the girls hair with whatever de tangle spray is on offer - there is a Disney Rapunzel one for £1 we often buy! That does the trick for my two.
