Don't deal with them PL
This was my thought upon reflection - they haven't emailed to confirm the appointment or viewings as yet; there is another agent promoting the property we are most interested in, would it be worth viewing through them do you think?
The only other issue is there are a couple of other properties we are interested in that are only being advertised through this EA... What's the solution to this other than write them off?!0 -

Its not a guarantee the broker will be the best but it will at least give you a list of brokers to approach.
Thanks OneEngland - I'll have a look into that this evening0 -
I do not work in or with any Estate Agents but its a little unfair to tar in branch brokers with the same brush.
No harm in speaking to the broker, lead them on a little bit and play their game. Just don't authorise them to do a AIP/DIP unless you are happy. The benefit of at least speaking to the EA's broker will be that the EA will then likely put you ahead of other buyers. Make it clear to the broker that you are not authorising them to share any of your personal information with the EA staff.I am a Mortgage Adviser

This is naive, it is how the work/industry should work but it absolutely does not.
This forum and others are littered with poor practice and inexperienced estate agents mortgage advisors.

Thanks both - unfortunately having experienced 4 different EA's in our area, I have to say I am with Dave Ham from what we've experienced; how things should work/operate in theory tends to be sorely lacking in reality.
Obviously not tarring every EA with the same brush, but 4 out of 4 have been economical with the truth on more than one occasion!0
