Waiting to hear about job

I went for a job interview on Monday and it seemed to go well. When I spoke to the Agent he seemed quite encouraging and said that i would probably hear the next day. Never heard anything tuesday and got told I would hear by the end of business on Wednesday, in the end I rang up at 4.50pm and he then said I should hear today. It is now nearly 4 o clock and still nothing. I am getting the feeling that I'm not going to hear today either. I know this shouldn't really have a baring on the matter buy I am disabled and I don't think I have the job, and don't know whether to ring and chase the agent again. I have also been told that the employer needs to talk to the partner and human resources before offering the job, does this normally take 3 days ? I don't have too much confidence at the moment and don't want to make a complete idiot of myself chasing the agent when the answer is no and no-one is saying. HELP !!!!

Don't worry - it can take a lot longer than three days - in fact three days would be a very quick turnaround.

If by "agent" you mean recruitment consultant then they might not know the definite date that there will be an answer. If they are getting a fee then they will be anxious to get the offer in soon so it might be wishful thinking on their part. (when I worked in recruitment clients would often say "definite decision by Monday, yet would keep both the candidate and me hanging on for days! It's their prerogative.) Also, at this time of year it can often take a lot longer to get hiring decisions.
