Ideas for portable starters!

This Christmas I am making the starters to take to my parents' house. So I'm looking for ideas for starters for 4 adults, that won't fall apart when delivered in the car!


We're having duck as the main course and eat pretty much everything.

How about making a homemade terrine? They are easy to do, can be done in advance and you can take it in the car still in the tin, then when you get there just slice and put with some crispbreads, pickles and salad leaves. So the prep time on arrival is short. We did this one year and it went down well.

prawn cocktails? just prep everything at home, put into containers and assemble when you get to your location...
( remember to take your dishes!)
I did the puddings one year and put everything in a strong cool box and it was fine

BAGGY

Cured Italian meats with olives, ciabatta and caper berries. You can go as posh or as basic as you like with smoked almonds, devilled cashews, cherry tomatoes, posh cheese etc.
Pate and melba toast?
Mozarella and tomato salad with pesto and posh leaves. The pearl Mozarella looks cute.
Soup
Florida cocktail - bit retro
Melon and parma ham - ditto
Avocado and prawns - same again

Theres no reason you couldnt make a soup, travel with it in a tupperware tub and then heat it up when you get there?
