*waves* hi all. Only new thing I've discovered in the last week or so is that the nets put up by the landlord make the condensation so so much worse. I've started tying them up in the mornings so the window can dry (with the window open too). I'm loathe to take them down completely as this is a groundfloor flat and though they are net, they are an extra layer over the single glazed windows.

Oh! Living next to a cannabis farm! I suppose at least it was warm? My last place was above somewhere where the drug smoke/smells was coming up through the inside of the building. It was pretty warm too, now i think about it...

The HA replaced my front and back doors a couple of weeks ago. I now have very posh white shiny doors with the top half frosted glass. The old back door was all glass, single glazed - and the kitchen was sub- arctic for 8 months of the year, but I loved it because you could see all the wee birds hopping around on the steps. The cat really liked it lol.
Now its a lot darker but a huge increase in the warmth. It feels really nice in the mornings. Last couple of days has been frosty here and outside thermometer been reading 0-2C, but the kitchen is at 19C!! unheard of :D
  • Re slippers - I live in my orthotic flip-flops whenever possible! The soles are quite thick (even though all 3 pairs I own are getting pretty ancient now!) so cold soles aren`t a problem. I`ve had umpteen types of `proper` slippers, and none have really suited me. Bare toes may look odd in winter, but mine seem happy enough so far!

We had a new gas cooker installed yesterday, which has got to be more fuel efficient than the old one that was SO shamefully gormed up, so now having to rethink the storage/clutter in a small kitchen - this is a good incentive, I need it! After today`s late shift I`m free till Tuesday, so I can really get stuck in with kitchen sorting.
After Tuesday`s long day shift, I`m free for almost 2 weeks (LOVE this part-time life!!) so a trip to Abakhan fabrics and fleece hunting for lining curtains, plus other sewing projects for grandchildren, looking forward to that.
  • I felt really cold this morning and put on my first jumper of autumn but it has warmed up now so I have changed to a long sleeve top.:)

I feel like I am almost fully prepared for winter when it arrives.:D

I'm a fairly recent convert to cardigans. (A couple of thick, good quality ones purchased from charity shops have proved invaluable) I remember my mother telling me years ago that cardigans were much better as they could be taken on and off so easily. Did I listen? No, but you were right (again!) Mum.:)

Dragonette I can highly recommend this

I used to have single glazed windows that ran with condensation all of the time and this worked wonders. Easy to fit, and won't leave any damage to the windows when you go.

DH and I have just spent a couple of hours sorting out the garage and shed. We've put the plastic chairs away but still need to buy a cover for the bench, I'm hoping to get one later this afternoon when I take DS to work.
I've done a little cutting down but I'm hoping to get it finished half term week, fingers crossed for some dry weather. It's a lovely Autumnal day here, the washing is out and the sun keeps peeping from behind the clouds. We've still got a few jobs to do I've a lot planned for half term!

I know this may sound silly but can you still see clearly through the window when the plastic film is attached? :o

    Not silly at all!

Yes you can, it's as clear as glass. You tape around the frame and stick the film on, then hairdryer all over it and this gets rid of wrinkles and makes it taut like a drum. It works really well.
