I agree, the newer camping stoves are very stable. Lizzy on YouTube uses one in her kitchen all the time, on her stove top, but well away from curtains etc! Having a window open slightly for a bit ventilation is a good idea too. They don't need matches either.2025 Fashion on the ration

We gave our summer duvet a good shake and "fluff up" yesterday as it had become rather compacted as a result of naps dozing on top of the bed, sitting on it to pull on socks, etc.
Surprisingly all that trapped air made last night's sleep feel much warmer.9 -
Good evening All
I’m just popping in to say hello, since I was surprised that this thread had been quiet since October. How did you survive last week’s “big freeze”?
I did wonder why our house felt colder than previously. I reckon wind-chill must have been a big factor. We’ve lived in this house for nearly 20 years, so survived The Beast From The East in 2018, as well as five years of pretty heavy snow at the start of the last decade. The only major difference is that the council cut down the wind-break of trees, bordering the car park of the school opposite. It was so cold on one of the days that my husband - who never feels cold - put the central heating on for an hour in the middle of the day!
Me? I rugged up in layers and thermals, wearing two fleece while I sat at my desk and wrapping a blanket around my legs. I even wore thermals on the day that I went into the office.
During the Big Chill, I swapped the duvet on our bed, returning to using a down-filled one. I am so glad I did. This one is so much warmer and heavier than the polyester filled one we’d been using “temporarily”. (We had the down-filled duvet cleaned about 5 years ago and never got around to putting it back on.)

I hadn't realised it had been so quiet. I'm afraid after being really ill for nearly a month (chest infection, cracked a rib from coughing and nearly ended up in hospital) I put the heating on constantly. I did wear layers too but I'm dreading the bill but my health has to come first as I have a lung condition and that bout of illness really scared me. I was glad of home made soup (prepped) and lots of blankets and lots of sleep.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera.
