Preparing for Winter V

I put a draught excluder in front of the doors. A few years back we actually had a wall put up to partition the stairs off as the draught used to be shocking. The difference that made was immense. And although a more expensive structural change was well worth doing. And it was just a stud wall with a door with insulation in the wall.
Is there a way to add a double door into the kitchen???
I did have the extraction fan taken out in the bathroom, it was wrapped in bubble wrap the whole time and the bathroom was freezing, I always open the window when showering. But again the difference in heat in the room was well worth the cost . I only wished it had been done sooner!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J7 -

Hello, I did post on here a couple of times years ago but was locked out of my old account. I got lots of good tips and tricks, I now have a stoneware pig (charity shop find) after a recommendation from a poster. We still haven't had our heating on but have swopped to the winter duvets etc. It has been incredibly mild here and I think we aren't due any properly cold weather until the end of December. Has anyone had any success with insulating a garage door? Our bedroom is over the garage and it can get very cold. I put the silver bubble wrap stuff on the door and tried to plug the gaps but it hasn't made much difference. I don't have much money but was thinking that if I cover some large cardboard boxes with emergency foil blankets then tape them over the whole door that might help?SPC #046 2021- £293.26

Look to see if the floor is insulated, that will be a bigger heat gain than the garage door itself.

Hi
We had a few years in a static caravan when OH worked down south. We found extra rugs and putting a thin duvet under your sheet kept us much warmer. Simple steps like bootie slippers and extra layers keep the heat in, it’s easier keeping a steady warmth than getting cold and warming up. We used to keep the doors closed to the bedroom until about half an hour before bedtime and then if it was really cold popped a heater in there until we were in bed.Throws are really useful too. We are now in our small snuggly flat now but still use socks, throws etc I know this year is unusually warm but we’ve still not needed any heat on yet.

We use a spare duvet under the sheet in our motorhome in winter - it definitely makes it nice and warm and cosy! Don't need to do it indoors as we have a water bed which is heated!

first frosts on my car this morning so really cold.. glad I checked the car box the other day when I found out I had got this job. Took all of 30 seconds to grab the spray bottle of de-icer and my gloves, and a few minutes sat in the car to be completely free and ready to go. the temperature feels like it has dropped considerably for the mornings and evenings. day times are still feeling nice and warm.today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.
