I've had lovely brushed cotton bedding from Primark and Asda, both seem similar quality. They have both washed and worn well.

I have an ASDA bedding set with hedgehogs on it :) so cosy x
  • Thanks everyone. Will have a nosy in Primark and Asda.

Feels a tad xhikly in the house this evening. Think it's time to start pulling out the woollen socks to keep my feet warm and a body warmer before I start thinking of switching the heating on. Out target always used to be to keep it switched off until 1st October but now we're getting older it seems sensible not to do this at the expense of our health. However a few simple precautions like warmer clothing will hopefully delay the inevitable a little.

    Afternoon everyone,

I am starting to look at my winter plans now. Need to get some fleece blankets to use as liners for the windows. I only want cheap ones.

Anyone know of anywhere that have them. Not sure where I got the ones I do have from. Most I have looked at are £4-5 a pop.

Also anyone got any idea what to put under my bathroom cabinet. It has a gap underneath and it blows a gail under it.

    Thanks

    Yours

I got some fleece throws for £1.50 in JYSK
Im hoping to line a couple of bodywarmers with them the original filling has bunched up so need to try something also they make good scarves too and wraps just fold in half and cut down centre of top layer to the fold or another option cut along the fold from the centre both ways this will give u a sort of fleece poncho hope this helps
I did my curtains a few years ago makes a big difference i just pinned them to the curtain
2nd purse challenge no040£0 Sealed pot challenge ???? £2 trolley find not counting small coins till end year
  • Bit nippy out now but nothing that can't be solved by just chucking an extra layer on.

Sorta wanna start getting the winter clothes & stuff out as I'm in midst of a clear out, but know it's way too early for that, especially with the September we're being predicted weather wise.

Well I may have bitten the bullet a little early but all my summer shorts and lightweight tops have been washed, ironed and packed away in drawers now. Still, easy enough to dig them out again if the occasion arises.

Meanwhile I'm taking a few geranium and perennial cuttings to overwinter in my plastic greenhouse or on the garage window shelf. The cost of plants seems to rise every Spring so always worth getting a few free plants for little effort. And I found half a packet of rather old grass seed in the garage the other day so have been scarifying the brown dead patches on the lawn and using the seed up in the hope that before the weather turns too cold the seed might still sprout and repair the heatwave damage.

My local Aldi had a range of shrubs yesterday. £1.79 each. Only small of course at that price but way cheaper than a garden centre and they will soon grow.

    Good idea about the geraniums.
  • I've made soup this morning, so summer must officially be over!

    Bexster :)
  • Yes, the cardigan has been given an airing/wearing and one of the jobs today is to change the sheets and put on the electric blanket. The winter duvet is at the laundrette having its annual wash and a batch cook is ahead of some warming curries. I too like to take cuttings of geraniums and choose the colours carefully as the salmon pink ones look absolutely glorious at this time of year whereas the bright pink and white ones are rather out of place. The nights are quite cold now and I don't know how many of my allotment veg will carry on much longer. Next week will be collecting elderberries and rosehips, so winter is definitely on the horizon.

  • Yes, I also made soup, Leek potato and onion, so summer must be over.

I am also in baking mode now, I couldn't bear to be in the kitchen when it was so hot, now I think it is time to stock the freezer with goodies xx
