Thank you, will have a look for them"When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us" Alexander Graham Bell0

JENNY just had a look and Amazon have a 'look alike' lamp the same as the Sunnan (currently out of stock) by SIDIOU for £17.99 on PRIME. Might be worth a look?0

My 'insurance policy' for being able to heat water/food if the power is out is another thing from Ikea (I don't actually live there!) that cost me £3. It is a stainless steel 'teapot warmer' that you put 2 lit tea lights into and it keeps the teapot and its contents warm, by experiment I've found that if you use 4 tea lights and a small round pan you can heat water/soup/beans etc. nicely warm, certainly warm enough to make hot drinks in around 45 minutes. Not instant but useful if everything else isn't working and small enough (about 6" x 6" x 2" deep) to store without too much space being taken up. It took around an hour to get the water to boil but helped warm the kitchen so in cold weather that would be a bonus too.0

We were looking at a small butane stove. We used one recently that my dad lent us when we went camping and found that it was really good so think we might invest in one of those -they are only about £10 and you can get the butane cannisters for £2.99 in cheaper shops like B&M and Home Bargains......
I sat making my winter prep lists last night and have about 5 in total
Winter prep - clothing
winter prep - house
winter prep - pantry stock
winter prep - freezer stock
winter prep - medicine cabinet
My husband looked at me slightly demented when I wrote disposable BBQs - we have an actual BBQ but no charcoal etc so I think Ill grab whatever is cheapest. Our only good thing is his mother lives literally across the street but shes on a seperate electrical patch so if need be we can crash her house.Time to find me again0 -
I upgraded the bedding on my bed for last night, as in a touch warmer. Its quite tricky as I hate too warm but was perfect, definitely worked toward that full night`s sleep. I can`t do any more for winter preps today as it will rain all day, I want to get cracking outside, one large water butt emptied last night and some redundant pots and troughs ready to pass on at the tip. I`ll be cleaning and storing the solar water features next week. House is already clean otherwise I would be doing the winter clean0

We have one of those one ring portable camping/outdoor use gas hobs in its own carrying case, and a supply of spare gas canisters which are invaluable for boiling a kettle/emergency cooking if you live in an all electric property. The price of them has come down over the years and you can often pick them up quite cheaply now. In fact we often use ours with a thick griddle pan in the garden for cooking chops, burgers, sausages, etc. It's a lot quicker than a barbeque as you get instant heat for small quantities, and a lot less messy as there's no charcoal to clear up afterwards.0

I'm taking down my bedroom curtains to wash them today and putting up the heavy ones in prep for winter. I slept with my fuzzy socks on last night and it felt lovely and cosy.:)0

We have had a tent up in the garden all summer hols - coming down today.
roast dinner - first for ages already prepped. House having a deep clean tomorrow and then I will swap the cushion covers for more autumnal ones. Curtains will possibly taken down and changed - will check weather forecast first.
Might put the heating on for a test run - give lad lord plenty of time to fix if required.0
