Agreed there are ways for a business to get round this, however still think it's worth OP fighting this and forcing them to at least give evidence of reason for change that ACAS will find acceptable which they might struggle to come up with depending of the circumstances of the business. Better then just signing the new contracts and admitting defeat.

I absolutely agree. Which is why I said that it was important that everyone affected stand together. Because I know how these things work. One person gets worried about losing their job and signs. Then three people do the same because one has. Then half a dozen people, and the next thing you know is that you are amongst the 5% who didn't. One of the tests a tribunal will apply? How many people agreed the change. The "making up a good reason for the change" is actually the easy bit for an employer. Dead simple. The hard bit is getting people not to fight it, and the more people who don't the weaker a case gets. Remember, there are certain basic facts around this - by the time you get to a tribunal claim you have no job! Unless you are truly anticipating getting a new job fast (in which case your claim may not be worth pursuing) tribunals rarely award an amount of money that is anything like the real cost of being unemployed. The only "safeguard" here is the power of numbers - and history says even that may not be enough. Being a martyr is never much fun.
