Cycling Glove Recommendations?

Options
I cycle daily and need some gloves that are wind and water proof. As cycling gloves are traditionally quite expensive, can anyone recommend any?

I'm currently wearing my usual wooly gloves, but my hands were really cold this morning!

TIA

Sealskinz do some nice winter cycling gloves, I've not used them myself but my brother has a pair and raves about them.
  • I picked up a big warm set from Aldis recently. Nothing gets through those. They are however a little restrictive for off-roading in that the brake lever when pulled comes up against them.

Or a thin skinned thermal set underneath your normal waterproof ones.

Buy a pair of inexpensive skiing gloves.

Lidl currently have some for about £5.

Aldi have had winter cycling gloves in their store recently at a reasonable price. They do keep out cold, and the water for a while.

I noticed Aldi also sell waterproof lobster claw cycling overmitts, which you could wear over the winter gloves on really cold wet days. Those two pairs of gloves and a pair of (merino) lining gloves would be all you would ever need for cycling, all for less than £30.
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

Bought a pair of sealskinz last winter and have just started using them again. Still nice and warm :)

Another vote for Sealskinz. If anything they're too warm until the temperatures get close to freezing!

If you are anywhere near a Decathlon store they do terrific own brand bike gear at very good prices. I'm currently using a pair of the £9.99 Btwin 500 gloves (see below) and they got me through a 30 mile ride in weather that ranged from wet to torrential with driving wind. They also have higher specced ones. If you are not near a shop you can get them online but you'll have to pay p&p

Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!
  • Thanks everyone. Off to do some glove shopping!
  • Altura Night Vision are pretty good too. Mine came with removable liners as well, for really cold days.

Mostly I just use B'Twin 700 ones, with nitrile gloves underneath if it's wet/cold.

yep another vote for Sealskinz, it's worth layering up with gloves so that you are never too hot or cold.

But the main thing to keep your hands warm is keeping your core warm or at least happy.
