Mortgage app and sending original documents.

Hi,

The mortgage lenders have contacted us asking for documents and that we send the originals.

This isn't a problem but obviously is s worry sending our original pay slips etc.

Do we definitely get these back? Do we need to send a stamped addressed envelope?

Thanks

only the Lender knows their own process - ask them.

  • I'll just put a SAE in anyway.

    Can't go wrong then.

Send them an addressed special delivery envelope.

You can pick them up easily at the Post Office (unlike mortgages).

Ironic, a mortgage from the Post Office and you are worried about losing your documents in the post!

  • Ha ha ha I know!

Well hopefully the valuation will come back fine and my documents are ok.
  • They returned mine last week via Special Delivery signed for (I hadn't included an SAE). Had to go and collect them from the depot as I work during the day.

Was a bit of a disappointment as I thought it was going to be the mortgage offer until I collected it!

The offer still hasn't come through although apparently everything's been accepted. Sounds like they're having trouble with their systems. The rate I applied for isn't on their site any more so hopefully the delay won't mean I miss that original rate.

I remember something about paying fees meaning you'd secured the rate but not sure if that was valuation fee (which I've paid) or arrangement fee (which I asked to be added to the loan).
