Good spot, that could cause a few panics! Corrected now

oh didn't know that i thought you had to leave one rad without a TRV even without a room statJohnandabby wrote: »That's only if there's a room thermostat, which the OP has said there isn't - you wouldn't have a TRV on the rad in the room with the room thermostat.Johnandabby wrote: »Good spot, that could cause a few panics! The temperature was only on half so I've put it up to the max and we shall see tomorrow how hot or warm it is. The pressure was on 1 bar so I've added pressure to take it up to 1.75 bar so again I'll see how it is in the morning. I'll feel the radiators and see how hot it is at top and bottom to determine if it's bleeding or sludge or all ok. Thanks everyone.0

1.75 is too high when the boiler isnt workingI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

Sorry I don't know what you mean. Do you think my boiler isn't working? The boiler is working. By that I mean it's not broken.
Do you mean it's too high when the boiler isn't on? i.e. the heating isn't on at the moment?
Do you mean I should reduce it from 1.75? I don't actually know how to take pressure out and reduce it.0 -
The pressure should be at 1.5 at the most when the water temp is cold. Take a wee cup or an old cloth and bleed water out of a radiator until the pressure drops down to 1.5
On a plus side if the boiler temp setting was only at half then turning it up should sort out the poor performance0 -

Thanks for that info. I'll make sure I bleed the radiator and in future don't put more than 1.5 pressure in it. Tbh when I went back to look it was more like 1.5 really not as high as 1.75 because as you turn the tap off the needle drops slightly to 1.5.
On the plus side it is much hotter today. The radiators are boiling hot both top and bottom so it really was as simple as turn up the boiler!
Thanks everyone.0 -
The problem with turning the boiler up to the max is that the hot water is absolutely scalding now. Is there anything I can do to adjust that?
Also I've bled the rads but hardly any water came out.
Altho I only added pressure to 1.5 when the boiler was off & had cooled down when it warms up the pressure goes up to 2.5 - 3 in the red zone. Any other ideas on how I can reduce the pressure to 1. Thanks.0 -

Don't you mean hardly any AIR came out? To lower the pressure of the boiler then keep bleeding water out of a radiator until the pressure is at the desired level.
I don't think there's much you can do about the hot water. There will be a dial for hot water so you could turn this down, however the heat exchanger will be red hot from the central heating, so when you call for hot water whilst the heating is on (or shortly after) then you will notice the hot water comes through quicker and hotter than if the heating was off.0 -
Try turning the tenperature to inbetween where it was and max, you probably don't need it on max to be honest. You just need to find the happy medium between hot radiators and water that doesn't take your skin off! Fortunatley my boiler has a seperate dial for the rads and hot water but that could be with it being a combi.0
