Following on a bit from my last thread ( attachment of earnings).
I owe £2700 on a CCJ, but I can if need be get £1000... Maximum.
I know the original debt will have been bought for less than what I owe, but wondered if, if they decide to push me further, they'd accept such a small amount compared to the debt?
I'd rather just get rid of it if I can now, it's too stressful. I'm not sleeping since I got the attachment of earnings form, which is pointless anyway as I don't work!
This £1000 isn't lying around, it's money that I don't have, but can get if I absolutely have to.
Thanks.
Oh and I can't do a dro, as I own a car and part own my home.

You can ask the creditor if they would accept a settlement. However, you can also offer them a payment plan that is affordable to you. The worst has happened, you have the CCJ. Set up something you can cope with and take a step away for a bit.
Set up a low payment plan for a few months, and after they receive a small amount each month, they may be more likely to accept a full and final offer. Be sure to note that it is not money you have, but money that been offered to you on the absolute understanding that it is used to pay off a debt in full, and cannot be obtained otherwise.
If you are not working perhaps you could think about selling your vehicle to lear the debt? They are expensive money pits if you do not have an income to fund them. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

how much are you currently repaying per month?
how long have they had a CCJ for the debt? The only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -
The CCJ has been in force since 2010... I pay £10 per month, but have missed a few months ( my dad became very ill & subsequently died and I forgot to pay it). Last week they sent an attachment of earnings form, which I sent back straight away with my benefit details on as I don't work.
Now I'm in panic mode as to what they'll do next and just thought I'd see, if need be,if they'd take a small settlement.0 -
do you own your home?
i honestly dont think they would accept a figure that low with a CCJ in place but its always worth a shotThe only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50
