Not if it is cashmere, wool or silk. If you haven't got special hand or wool wash stuff just grate a bit of hand soap and it will be fine.
For cotton, polyester, acrylic or nylon you can use any soap powder or liquid but you might want to use gloves because it can be harsh on the skin.0
