Ham or pork joint?

I've took a joint out of the freezer last night and for the life of me can't remember if it was ham or pork shoulder!!! Normally I'm pretty organised with my freezer but my labelling skills seem to have failed me

So is there any way to tell what I've defrosted or should I just bite the bullet and slow cook it to do some nice pulled pork / ham :rotfl:

do you mean ham as in a gammon type joint?

I would expect the pork to be much paler than a gammon joint, gammon is usually much pinker than pork

Cut off a tiny sliver and fry or microwave it to kill bugs and then taste for salt.

Thanks both turns out it was a gammon joint but worked it out to late :rotfl: so we ended up with a full "veggie" roast dinner and ham sarnies for supper
