OS Daily thread Sunday 23rd November

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all
I do love a leisurely lie in on a Sunday morning, unfortunately I'm dog sitting & the lovely Bailey decided he'd like to get up at 4:50! So he's been walked & breakfasted & is now snoring gently in his bed. I've emptied & reloaded the WM & DW, the washing will go on the maiden as it is raining heavily here.
DD1 visited yesterday with the twins, it was lovely to spend time with them, the older children went to Gravity Force with her hubby.
Time I made another cuppa & then got on with my CAL blanket from Attic24.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone.
Thanks for starting the thread Hester.
Last night I put the winter weight duvet on the bed and woke up in the middle of the night because of the heat. Can't win. Spent most of the rest of the night with feet hanging out. I do like the cosiness of the winter duvet even if it is extremely effective.
Want to get up and out fairly soon - need to do a trip to Oban for a few annoying bits and pieces and then a neighbour needs a laptop looked at and an anti-virus installed. I can do that!
Still got water coming through in patches, the latest builder/roofer reckons it's coming from the steading which our living room side shares a wall with. And I agree, it's never been the chimney. The steading wall is very wet and the flashing/edging on the ridge is either missing or raised. Hopefully it'll be resolved soon.
Lunch is soup and evening meal will be whatever I find in the freezer.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Happy Sunday.0 -
Morning all
Wet and windy here gor the bedding in the wm which will have to go on the airer today.
Little dog got on ok at the vets yesterday, another £100  good job we love her ! we had to leave her there for the day and on the way home another dog ran our right in front of our car, we managed to catch him and I phoned and phoned his owners number and there was no answer, we drove round for an hour of so looking for someone looking for a dog but nothing, we decided to take him home and wait for them to ring us back, just on the way when they phoned and we ran him home, the lady was very off with us !!! (how dare we rescue her dog ) although the man was lovely and kept thanking us, so a happy ending for that naughty dog.
Going to have a tidy round for an hour or so then I must nip into town for an hour or so, I do like shopping in the rain as its quieter
Got my mum a bit of yellow fish yesterday as she has not been eating well since the operation, she loved it and ate it all up with some bread and butter, will look for something else for her today.
Have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning All
Very wet and miserable start here today. Am driving DD back to Brighton so hope it isn't too torrential.
Wont be getting much done and OH is cooking his Shepherds Pie for tonight.
Might have a little mooch around the shops when I get there but if the weather is too horrible then will head straight home.
Gers - I still haven't put my winter duvet on as its still quite mild here :j
Have a great day all.x0 -
Morning All
RR - Well done on rescuing the dog, funny how people can be isn't it? Saw the photos on FB and he looked mega cute! Glad little dog is doing well, your Mum too - maybe just needed something tasty and a bit different.
HH - Sorry about your lie in! I must have gone off to sleep at around 10.30 and didn't wake until 6.30 so that was good for me. Hope DD is feeling better.
Gers - Still have my summer quilt on but have put my dressing gown on top a couple of nights although I usually have to take it off in the middle of the night!
Looks like it is going to be a lovely day here but it's been cold overnight. Will put the washing in the conservatory as it heats up nicely and as long as I leave the windows open slightly it will be fine. I'm going to the Country Living Christmas thingy in Glasgow, DD has a pass for me as she is working there so will get ready in a minute.
DW emptied, re-filled and doing its thing. Managed to clean both bathrooms, hoover round and dust yesterday afternoon so not much to do. DDs friend is coming over for Sunday dinner. They are working together today so will have roast ham, roast pots and loads of veggies!
Have a good Sunday. Take care. XX0 -
Sorry not to have been posting.
Molly Dog needing lots of attention and feeling a bit glum atm.
Hester - I have Potassium deficiency and eat a baked potato with avocado - highest levels of potassium in food. Have to eat the skin of potato - best bit though. Also there are some prescribed supplements.
Hope you feel better soon xx
Hugs xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
When the darkness lifted the sun came out and is shining away like a good 'un.
Just about my winter duvet...it was an impulsive move. Wasn't even cold enough to light the woodburner last night, however the 'summer' duvet is a lovely wool one which is warm enough usually but it doesn't drape around the body the way a feather one does. Hate cold gapes.
Learnt my lesson, duvets changed back! :rotfl:

Afternoon all,
Cat wanted breakfast at 6.30, made him wait till later!:rotfl:
Lazing today, my legs are bad today.
Looks as though Lewis Hamilton will be world champion in a few minutes:T
Cat is lazing on me too! Dinner is sausage and mash today, as OH is not here this weekend.
Saw my nephew yesterday, he lives in Carshalton, so doesn't get down that often.
Hope everyone is okay and enjoying their Sunday. xxI Believe in saving money!!!:T

Afternoon all,
Well we didn't go away to the caravan because the weather for today was pants. So we went yesterday and emptied the water from the pipes (in case of frost) and DH gave it a wash, then we covered it. We know we won't be going down until at least January now.
DH had to take the Macerator from the downstairs loo into the garden and give it a clean (eughh) as it keeps getting stuck flushing. I ventured into the understairs cupboard for something and ended up sorting it out. Still on the positive side I have a bag for the charity shop and one for the dustman!
Happy Sunday0 -
Hello everyone. Bit of a lie in until 8.30, although not a great night's sleep as DH has a cold and kept waking me up. DS16 up and off to see his girlfriend on the 9.15 bus.
Have been pottering about in the kitchen, made Chelsea buns and an apple and almond pudding, also vanilla ice cream, and gammon in coke is in slow cooker. Very wet and grey outside so nice not to have to venture out. Two loads through washing machine, but had to use tumble drier as school uniform needed for tomorrow.0
