Asda fragrance

Asda has a limited number of perfumes on it's website but I only checked the price of one. It was considerably cheaper than the Boots, Debenhams etc., prices. Do they sell exactly the same product, or is there something different (as it is USA owned)?

Comments

  • Is it possibly eau de toilette rather than eau de partum?

Otherwise maybe check the manufacturer's website, sometimes they'll have a list of approved stockists. See if ASDA is on there.
  • I contacted Paul Smith and Asda is not one of their official stockists - does that mean it's a fake perfume?

Hmmm, I don't really know. Perhaps the Paul Smith people meant that they don't sell directly to Asda, but that doesn't mean that Asda doesn't perhaps buy from a third party. It happens, places with extra stock sell to others, manufacturers don't like it (the so-called "grey market"). Maybe the ASDA stock is perfectly legit, but old. Perfume doesn't last forever. Or it's counterfeit, although it seems odd that a big chain like Asda would knowingly sell fake goods. Might be worth asking them? Tell them you contacted Paul Smith and what they told you.

    Sorry, I'm not much help.

It is what is called the Grey Market, TKMaxx etc get from this.

The product is made to be sold outside the EU, far east etc. If it does not sell well then the distributor will sell it back cheap to whichever store business willing to buy as they do not want to be stuck with it.

There is nothing wrong with the perfumes, they might have Arabic writing on the top but that is it.

I bought something similar before from Asda and it was awful. Be warned.
