I wouldn't ever accept any quotation on the doorstep, the same day as offered (nor would I recommend anyone else to do so).

I'd always want to compare what was being offered with what I could buy elsewhere.


And in particular, when a salesman says "the offer is only open for today; it will be much dearer tomorrow" he's really saying "if I give you time to think about it you'll realise what a poor deal it really is"


Of course it may well be that on this particular occasion it really is a great deal, you've done some thorough research and are absolutely convinced you should go ahead. But that doesn't sit well with asking "should I cancel ?".

You haven't mentioned what work is being done, or what the price is.

You have zero chance of being given any meaningful advice unless you give some basic information.

If you don't know whether a commitment of £5-10k is the right one for you and your circumstances, and that is good value, then you already know the answer: you should cancel. Then do some research and get several quotes from other suppliers.
