White Goods - Payment Outside Mortgage Offer

So, after agreeing purchase of a probate and being close to completion we have viewed the property and the agreed white goods have gone. We were going to put in place a gentlmens agreement to pay back £1,000 after completion but as the executor is not a beneficiary they will not do that.

After a lot of back and forth our solicitors have had to ask NatWest if this £1,000 can be put into the contract to be withheld on completion. We have been told they can either say Yes! and it happens, or No! and we can complete as standard terms and lose the £1,000 and put it down to a bad experience.

Any thoughts on NatWest likely decision and if they say No - we can still complete on the agreed contract and just lose out?

Thanks for looking,

  • have you any way of contacting the seller directly?
we had the phone number of our buyer and did a cash in hand deal for furniture/white goods but it was all on trust, no paperwork, so could have ended in tears but it was ok in the end
it's amazing how different the versions of events were from our buyer and what tall stories estate agent was telling us
  • Unfortunately the executor is not the beneficiary and any payment outside of the deal will have to come out of the estates pot. Unfortunately no-one will do that without solicitors involvement as there has to be traceability by the executor of where the money is etc.

Always challenges right at the end hey :)

what white goods second hand are worth £1k
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
