Offpeak train tickets

I haven't used a train in the UK in something like 30 years so forgive me if this question has an obvious answer.
I've booked a couple of return off peak tickets with London Midland.
I had to pick departure times for both journeys when booking online. Can I take alternative trains so long as they are within the off peak limits or do I have to change the times in advance before I travel ?
I will be collecting the tickets at the station when we depart.

OP tickets will be valid on any off peak train. If you take different trains to the ones you have selected you would not have reserved seats (probably doesn't apply to LM who I don't think offer seat reservations at all).0

Are you sure your ticket says an off peak return and is not in fact two advance tickets? Just curious in that you say you had to pick both departure times.Back on the trains again!0

You have to pick train times when booking online, even for tickets where you an travel on any off peak trains.0

Not always for the return journey , you can leave this unchecked on some sites. Hence why i queried it.Back on the trains again!0

I think davenport151 was referring to 2 departure times (which suggests 2x singles) as opposed to a departure time and a return time (which suggests a return ticket).0
