Match & More..... Doesn't

I do my weekly shop at Morrisons and have been looking at their Baileys prices (£18 for 1 litre). No problem I thought, it's £12 at Tesco so they'll price match it when I get it with my groceries.
WRONG!! Checked my receipt and the bill showed .67p cheaper elsewhere on a £40 shop. I went to customer services to ask why it wasn't price matched and was told "We can't be price matching against Tesco today"
It turns out that they may only price match 1 or 2 supermarkets per week and change them to suit.
The first thing you read on the Match and more logo is
"We now price match to Aldi and Lidl...
...as well as Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda"
and in the FAQ's
"What is Price Match?
Price Match compares the total value of the qualifying branded and own brand goods in your basket with the comparable branded and own brand goods from each of Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Aldi and Lidl. If the total value of comparable products is cheaper than Morrisons you will receive the difference in points at the rate of 10 points to 1 pence on your Morrisons Match & More Card provided you have spent £15 or more."
I think I will be emailing Morrisons CS for clarification as it should read
"We now price match to Aldi and Lidl...
...as well as Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda when it suits us and as long as they aren't too cheap"
BTW Baileys was refunded

As it says in your own quote above - the comparison is based on the total price of your shop - not price matching item by item.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0

Is that in line with Tesco and Asda price matching?0 -

Yes - all these price comparison things in every supermarket are based on total basket ( i.e. the price you would have paid if you had bought everything in Tesco or everything Sainsburys etc ) , rather than item-by-item.
If you want to "play the game" you need to split your shopping into multiple transactions that you know will trigger the price match0 -

I think that just shows that the Customer Service staff member did not understand the system which Morrisons operate.
Were you actually told by Morrisons staff that they price match against different supermarkets in different weeks?0 -

Yep, that's exactly what I do and the only time it doesn't work is when they haven't updated there system in which case I call up customer services show them there error, they check and verify realise I am right, I get an apology and they give me MORE than the difference I originally should have received back via gift card or points on my card.I may not be the brightest star in the sky but I still shine. Please be gentle

Another case of someone not knowing, so making up an answer rather than just say they don't know.
I hate it, but unfortunately is happens all the time.0 -

So Morrison's isn't that cheap then? Taking out the alcohol then everything else together would work out £5.33 more expensive. :eek:Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0 -

No, try reading the op, the alchohol wasn't matched.I do my weekly shop at Morrisons and have been looking at their Baileys prices (£18 for 1 litre). No problem I thought, it's £12 at Tesco so they'll price match it when I get it with my groceries.

So, taking out the alcohol Morrisons was 67p cheaper than all the supermarket it matches against.
Do you shop at Aldi?0 -
The other thing Match and More is very quiet about is what about deals such as buy 3 for £3 in say Tesco's. Does match and more compare against Tesco's single price, even if you buy 3?
It seems to me that it is still cheaper to go one store, buy their deals and then to morrisons and buy their deals. Or to get maximum return, buy the morrison's deal in one basket and everything not on a deal in another.0
