Facebook sharing as condition of entering comp

I queried having to share to enter a competition on Facebook and this is the reply I received from the competition holder.
"Audrey Mansell We do have competition terms and conditions if you wish to read them. I personally have been a Facebook user since 2008. And every business I see promoting a competition asks you to share. Facebook is about sharing."

They are incorrect, sharing should not be a condition of entry (doesn't stop them only choosing from people who have shared)0

3. Promotions may be administered on Pages or within apps on Facebook. Personal Timelines must not be used to administer promotions (ex: “share on your Timeline to enter” or “share on your friend's Timeline to get additional entries” is not permitted).

I don't do many Facebook comps for this reason! I don't have any 'real' friends on my twitter apart from my other half so don't care about that. But I don't feel happy about spamming my friends with endless comps on Facebook. I think Ive done one or two that I really was desperate to win and thats about it.
I will only enter if a like is all that requested as I can hide them from my timeline.
It might be against the rules but I have passed loads of comps because they request you to share. I can understand it though, they host a comp and in return we promote their business, if your not comfortable with that you don't have to enter.0 -
I do the same as you MrsEmma. I just skip them as there are plenty of other competitions to enter. I understand why they want to make you share but by doing it they are also missing other people like us from following them. Swings and roundabouts for them I suppose, unless Facebook suspends their page.0

The problem is that (historically at least - I'm not sure if this is still current) Facebook doesn't suspend the page of the competition organiser - instead they suspend the pages of the punters who entered, even though most are unaware of it being against Facebook guidelines .
I have never understood the logic of Facebook doing that - they don't even tell you that's why they've suspended your account, so it's not as if most people learn from it!0 -
If that is the case sibhill it occurs to me whether they should be posted on this site in case people do not understand the risks. I am just putting the question out there.
Sorry I do not know how to use quote.0 -

People only assume that is why they they are suspended but FB do not say so they don't know if that is true, I have shared and never been suspended.
(this has been debated before and it was left as up to the individual if they wish to enter or not)0 -
I just take it upon myself to comment on the competition post saying they should be reading facebook guidelines
