    4th result on Google here.

Use 144ml or so of melted butter.
  • But I need to know what weight of butter to melt, I don't want to be wasting butter. : )

When i saw the title of your thread i thought, i remember from when i was in school a gallon of water weighs 10lb, so oil must be heavier.
But when it's oil for baking i'll usually use 2 glugs.

I'd start with 50g, melt it and see. I'd expect it to be about 120g. melt it in the microwave in a measuring jug

  • 60 grams is the equivalent of 125mls. Hope it's not too late to be useful!

We use the same weight of oil as we would of butter.

(They both float on water so the specific gravity must be more ot less the same)
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
