Friday 21st November - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

• Morning folks!

I'm afraid I missed yesterday's post. Things up and down chez Fanta. But on the plus side, OH has also been offered another day's teaching :)

ziggy - hugs to you. I also love to see what you have been crafting. I would never have made my lovely rag wreath if it wasn't for you!

solvencyseeker - excellent news about the gas complaint

bobarella - ditto re insurance payout

Small list today:

• B/L/D from stores
• Quiet night in with OH
• Try out crochet pattern that my friend sent to me if OH not too unwell
• Charge phone in work
• Helped OH find an app that will hopefully identify why his phone battery is draining so fast
• Poss look for new phone for OH for Christmas. His one is completely breaking
• Checked online banking (hideous cc at the moment after unexpected amp expense!)
A small list again but I'm coming to the realisation, and starting to accept, that I can't really expect to do loads all the time while caring for OH. It's hard because I like to be busy and get lots done, but accepting that I can't is a big step :)

Have a good one all

Morning all!

I had a good result this morning - my complaint to am@zon re their gift cards only lasting a year worked, as they've reactivated my expired £10 GC and extended it until May 2018!

Today I have/will:-
1. Check banks
2. Lunch from home
3. Fill water bottle up at work
4. Earn 100 SBs
5. Earn £1 on OnePoll
6. Sort out washing on airer
7. Clean bathroom
8. Restart weekly pots - not much "left overs" from this week :( but there is a small amount left over meaning I didn't go over budget! :j
9. Decided to cancel mobile phone insurance - must find out paperwork but possibly at my parents - may pop there this afternoon
10.Make voucher to go in with my mum's xmas present
11. Wrap mum's xmas present
12. Decide what to get everyone else!
13. Charge phone in the evening rather than leave it on overnight
14. Look up bus times for tomorrow as going for a few drinks with a friend and I will NOT be paying for taxis!
Happy Friday!

Hi Friday Folk,
Not bad so far on the money saving:
*Wrapped & posted small eBay item which sold overnight. It had been listed several times, then suddenly sold. Only 1 item left now for relisting so a successful declutter & some money for the Bathroom Fund too.
*Called at Waitrose to pick up 2 'Click & Collect' items from John Lewis, thus saving on postage or city centre parking. Enjoyed our free coffees while we were there.
*Visited local market for our veg.....local farm has a fab stall on Fridays. Good prices on their veg & meat and only 8 food miles! 2 big bags inc meat for £8.50
*Found knitting book in charity shop. £1.99. Loads of patterns for stuff I want to knit so defo a bargain.
*Cleaned house using minimal products - Mr f is home today & offered to vacuum so we whizzed through it.
*Nectar card offers arrived in post. Haven't looked at them properly yet, but we are definitely thinking about making use of the Sainsbury's Nectar double-up which is on at the moment.
*Unblocked bath - tedious, but better than paying a plumber.
*Entered a competition.
It's Mr f's cooking night so I'm intending to enjoy some (free) leisure reading through a huge pile of mags I was given, knitting my mitten, library book & listening to music.
Oh.....just in case anyone might have been thinking of buying a gift from Crabtree & Evelyn, they emailed me a discount code this morning. It's FF40. Think it is for both in store & online, & it's for 40% discount. Quite an expensive shop, but high quality & 40% off is a decent wodge of cashola if anyone was planning to visit.
Wishing everyone a great Friday,
F x

Ugh, horrible day here today, so we have lit the woodburner early :o

Heating remains off though, apart from the bathroom, airing cupboard and loft conversion, on the timer, as usual :)

For me today:
Spent the morning at an auction viewing. Nothing for us this time, but I enjoyed the autumn colours on the way there, as the route is a pretty one :)

Stopped off at a nice cafe for lunch - not MS but a rare treat. Visited a craft / vintage centre but didn't buy anything :A

Bought this week's advertised special offer at local butcher's. Ended up with two heavy carrier bags full of different meats, bacon, sausages etc for £30, which I have repacked into suitable quantities for us and (mostly) frozen. This was all good quality English meat and the sausages were made by the butcher, who has won prizes for his sausage making. Cheaper than the supermarket, bought from someone who knows what he is doing and can give information about his products, and supporting a local business. What is not to like :D

I must make soup for supper, using ingredients I already have in the fridge.

Might also make mince pies as I found a jar of bought mincemeat in the larder when I was looking for something else last night. I can't think where it came from, as I make all that kind of stuff for myself rather than buy it . Still, I have it so I will use it, and can always jazz it up a bit by mixing in some booze. I must go through the larder and see what else might be hiding there. Now there is a job for a wet afternoon

Hope everyone is having a good day, despite the weather :)

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Hi All

Happy Friday!

Thanks Carrie, its been a long time coming. For the first time in ages I feel like me again. Think thats down to having a job again though more than the insurance thing! I was hard at it all day today, baking & making food. Really enjoyed myself. Back again tommorow then off Sunday-Wednesday. Also, its good you are being kind to yourself regarding how much you can realistically do. That is such an important word isnt it. Realistic.

Twiggy - Well done on your win. Take that Amazon! Not like they cant afford it is it.

Foxgloves
-Glad you have earned a bit more for the bathroom fund & decluttered too. I have sold another large item myself, not expensive but glad to have the money & see the space too. Enjoy your night off the cooking.

Dawn -Sounds like an excellent stock up on the meat front. Im jealous of your wood burner. We had one in our old house, arent they lovely.

Im pooped. Havent had time for much today, but things I have done:

Paid in £50 which husbands parents had sent him for his birthday today.
Found 3p
Only taken 1 bus, walked 4 miles to avoid spending.
Had coffee at work & a snack from work
Bought a pair of trainers on Ebay, they are Nike, & brand new would be lots. I am paying £6 plus postage. I desperately need them as mine have half the sole missing on each shoe :(
Heating off
Used up bits & bobs for little mans tea
Think thats it.
Working a long day tommorow 10-6 so I may not be on but have a happy weekend all.

• Hi all

Havent done very well today. We have had the heating on most of the afternoon, the house was freezing when I got home from work at lunchtime. Its off now though.

I put some washing out too and forgot to bring it in before it started raining. Its still out there.

On the upside I have done a few extra hours at job no. 2 so that will bring in a bit extra next pay day.

Quiet weekend planned so wont be very spendy. Might make my Christmas cake if I feel in the right mood!
• Mine list has been a bit lame today as it's been a working day so very busy.

I have...

* NSD (bought fuel, but used money allocated from fuel budget so not counting it as a spend)
* Transferred unused £2.60 from this weeks fuel budget into emergency fund
* 1 load of washing done and dried on indoors airer
* B/L/D from meal planner and stores
* Online banking checked and YNAB/spreadsheets updated
* Avoided paying for parking at work by moving car before free hours ran out

Think that's it. Planning on a no-spend weekend as have enough bread and milk in, plus everything for meals on the meal planner. Not planning on driving anywhere either so hopefully no fuel used either.

Happy weekend everyone :)

Car Insurance Carver!
Hello all!

I know its now Sat but I want to add what I did yesterday! Went off to the Hut for my friends birthday, very yummy! Had the Christmas Deal so £30 quid for both of us, he had a starter and main and unlimited drinks, I had main and pud with unlimited drinks, saved a few quid considering its an expensive place!

Have sent off a claim for my mileage finally! Getting on board with daily mileages and sorting it out, so that should mean a little more moolah!
