Will a mobile phone provider block phone if I don't pay?

Hi everyone.
I have been conversing with StepChange as I am about to start a token payment plan next month. I am trying to cut my bills everywhere I can and StepChange have suggested witholding payments for my mobile phone contract and add it to my token payment plan.
My question is, if I do this, will the mobile phone company (three) block my phone or just the sim card?
My current contract is £50 per month and I could get a sim only deal from them for £10 per month before the muck hits the fan.

Just the sim card. I would call Three and see if they can lower your monthly tarriff. When they say no, argue it. I used to work for them and lowered many people's tarriffs, including my own.0 -

Thanks, I will give it a go. My current contract is up next september so I'm over half way through. Hopefully they will agree.0 -

I've done it with O2 and EE in the last few months also. You will hear 'No' lots, but they eventually relent.0 -
