Change of property details - sent right back to first stage of mortgage application??

As the title says.

We were approved and after a horrendous survey decided to pull out of the sale.
We sought some broker advice (but not using one) and were told it'd be a quick change of property details form and back to valuation.

We had an offer accepted on another house which is the exact same amount as we were borrowing before in hope this would make things quicker.

Instead its now been 8 days since we called and told them of the change of house details and we are still no further forwards. It took 3 working day to finally speak to our 'mortgage advisor' who then said she could not approve it (although we'd already been told she could off another member of staff) and it had to go back to application stage!!

So another 2 hours on the phone going over all the old info we had only given her weeks before, we've sent further wage slips and now have been waiting for an application pack for 3 days which we need to sign and send back before they can even send us to the underwriters again!!!

Does this sound normal? I am loosing my patience esp as it took 7 weeks to approve last time... She has promised it wont take that long and she will 'escalate' it but the same promise was made last time and we were never rushed through.

Worst thing is you can never get hold of her, the other staff who answer the phone tells us information that seems to always be incorrect. It taken 5 weeks for them to change the postal address!!

If you had gone via a broker and not an in branch mortgage advisor the broker would have just cracked on with a new application without having to involve you other than possibly new updated payslips/bank statements.

Thankfully I have not had to do this too often but on the ones where this has happened it has needed to be a new application as a new valuation is needed.
