I would write Homebase a letter saying that you have attempted to settle the outstanding debt in full with Barclays but they have no record of it. Ask them to send you details of how you should settle it. Send letter recorded delivery. Then sit back and forget about the matter until they reply. In the highly unlikely event there is no replay withing 6 years, you can keep the money!0
