  • I received my first initial box which the meals looked small but provided sufficient food for myself and my partner. They did taste really good although as I had used my works address and the next delivery was the 19th of December. I cancelled my box on the 14th December and a payment has been taken out of my account on the 16th for £35. I have contacted them and they have said that I had up to 12pm to cancel the box as it was later than this they have said that they would be able to offer me a 30% discount off my next box which is due for delivery on this Friday the 19th. The only trouble is that the address I used is my works address as I work full time and there will be no one there to accept a delivery as the office is closed for 2 weeks. I have just emailed them back and are waiting a response. Whilst the food was good then its not worth the £35 per box and even more so now I don't have any choice over the meals that are coming...

I too used the £25 off and got the one and only box for £10. I've trialled this and Hello Fresh which I got via Groupon and I agree the boxes are not worth the money. The portions are mediocre and the veg goes off quite quickly. The recipes tasted nice but didn't fill us up. Cancelled both after the first box.

I used the £25 gift card that Amazon were putting into packaging. My box arrived today, rather perplexed at the size until you unwrap the huge woollen insulation (which might be handy for the coldframe this winter!)

Will be making the recipes tomorrow and popping two into the freezer; a quick check of the ingredients looked OK and the greens fresh.

I emailed a friend the intro code, so they'll get £25 and I should get £15 credit. Will try this after Crimbo.

    UPDATE -

Harissa chicken curry - 8/10, will make this again

Open Beef Lasagne - I replaced the recommended 200ml of pasta water with a tin of peeled plum tomatoes and added a shallot, otherwise 7/10 as could have done with more spices being in the recipe, like oregano.

Pork chops with caramelised onions and leeks - 6/10 bit dull

I ordered a Gousto box on a similar offer a few months back, and really enjoyed it. I've used one of the recipes a few times since, in fact. It's was brilliant value for the £10 I paid. I very much lucked out on my week though - I've not seen one since where I've fancied three of the recipes.

Gousto box was very good. It would be better if the portions were slightly bigger and it was cheaper. I enjoy experimenting with new recipes while not having to faff about weighing stuff out.

I like that it is sometimes organic/ local/fairtrade etc... Good to do when busy but need to eat well. Cannot afford it all the time. It also gets me back on track cooking from scratch again.
Green and minimal chemicals is the new black- I know a fair old bit about sustainability, specially energy and transport stuff. If I can help- please ask!
  • I have recently ordered the three meal box from Gousto making use of a £25 voucher from Amazon.
Food arrived and when cooked there was enough for two people. Tasty and enjoyable.
Drawbacks are the time it takes to prepare and to cook the meals and the cost.
Without the voucher it works out at £5.83 per person per meal.
    Too costly for me,

I had one trial box and thought it would have been vastly overpriced without the discount. Hated the smelly wool packaging (not sure how effective it would be in very hot summer weather) and found the veg in pretty poor condition. Recipes not exactly inspiring.

Fun as a one-off with a hefty discount but certainly wouldn't sign up on a regular basis.
