If your train is cancelled can you claim the money you lost on theatre tickets back from the TOC?
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

Have a look at their passenger charter for all the exclusions. When I tried to claim for a bus fare (when the line was closed for a couple of hours), they pointed out that they weren't liable for consequential losses. After a bit of discussion, they gave me a "good will" payment which covered the cost of the bus. A colleague whose journey was disrupted by the same incident, but used a different TOC, got a free bus ride on the day and a free day's travel anywhere on the network!0 -
This Condition 42 sets out the entire liability of the relevant Train Companies in relation to delays, cancellations and poor service. Except as shown in this Condition 42, the Train Companies do not accept liability for any loss (including consequential loss) caused by the delay and or cancellation of any train. However, they will consider additional claims in exceptional circumstances.
So, it depends. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

I don't think they will pay for the theater tickets. There are other ways you could have got to to the theater. They might just say there job was to get you from station A to Station B.Come on you Irons0

You can try. Send in the forms with an explanation/receipts and see if you get anything. They have no obligation to reimburse you though.0

Your use of 'again' in the thread title suggests this has happened to you previously? In which case it should have been anticipated and you might have either left earlier or chosen different transport. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

The Ipswich to London line is very unreliable, I only use it occasionally to visit London for leisure proposes.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

If you were 30 - 59 minutes late into your destination, you're entitled to compensation of HALF of the cost of a single ticket (A QUARTER of the cost of a return).
If you were 60 minutes late into your destination, you're entitled to compensation of the FULL cost of a single ticket (HALF of the cost of a return).
No compensation is due for for consequential losses.0 -
Almost certainly not - especially if only one train was cancelled and you didn't allow time for delays.0

It's a shocking line. If heading into London for anything where I've spent a lot of money on tickets, I always get a train about an hour earlier than I should have to.
Sadly, no, Abellio Greater Anglia won't give you anything for consequential loss.0
