Who's doing the Elf thing this year?

Hi everyone
I have logged on looking for the Elf-related chat which I have enjoyed in previous years. Is there already a thread on it?
I am about to order some little bits and bobs which our "elf" (Jingle the reindeer with magnetic legs) can start using come 1 December.
Last year I found a great product which is a sachet of chemicals you throw on an open fire and it makes colourful flames, will definitely be getting that again.
Happy elfing

This will be our 4th year with our elves (jingles & belle). I must admit I've put more thought into the whole thing this year (as we strongly suspect it will be the last year youngest dd believes) so I have been super organized!
I have a spreadsheet planning each nights antics, and all props etc are now purchased/made.
I try to alternate little treats with elf antics.
Some of this years treats include:
Gingerbread house kit
Movie night hamper with Elf DVD!
Travel mugs & hot choc sachets, and map of local lights.
Ice skating trip.
New reindeer elf will be arriving!
Magic grow mini Xmas trees.
Antics include:
Decorating the bathroom with Santa lol seat cover, bathmat, lol roll etc.
Being taken hostage by the Lego figures!
Spa night with the barbie dolls.
Late night MacDonald's & leaving rubbish in the car!
Dying daddy's hair red & green (spray on, wash out stuff!).
Photo album of places they've been this year (have been compiling this secretly over the last few months!).
Plus our elves leave the Xmas eve hamper. This year we also have a door, which is currently hosting a "under construction" sign. Dd's love seeing a bit more added each morning! Jingles & Belle will arrive Dec 1st, and will be joined by Rueben (the reindeer) on the 12th!It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
Love it! I have just bought advent calendars and "snow" from £land for the first morning when Jingle arrives with his passport and letter from Santa.
I love doing all the tricks and treats although I do have to admit that the most popular aspect of the whole thing for my two is that if you feed Jingle oats, a few hours later you find reindeer poos - which are suspiciously like chocolate covered raisins! Needless to say, Jingle never goes hungry in our house!0 -
I'm doing this for the first time this year. Our elf is ordered and I've set him up with a facebook page

Thanks! He's from the elf company and you can buy him on amazon. They also have an elf girl. Not cheap though! I figured that this may be used for years so wanted one that would last.:)0 -
Thank you, i will have a look i did purchase 2 little ones from card factory for £1each just looked on ebay and cant believe how much people are selling them for!! this is my 1st year of doing it, i would like it to be a new tradition. i have 4 children but 2 are probably a little old so will mainly concentrate on little 2 (although all letters will address all the kids) last year me and husband made a really magical wooden door which we will use this yr, i think it may magically appear against the wall under the xmas tree one day, with a letter saying its magic etc and that to expect a parcel through it soon, the door will then be used for the elfs to go back and forth with data for santas naughty or nice list
any idea`s would be greatly appreciated, this year i plan to cut back on presents and the commercial side of xmas, and concentrate, on spending lots of time with the family, creating memories and new traditions xxOne day I will live in a cabin in the woods0 -

Hate hate hate the whole "good and bad list" thing. What an awful lesson (threat) for children!
This is a much softer (nicer) version IMO.

Hi notanewuser ,
thank you for the link, i have just read through this and your right! this is much nicer i have however brought 2 new elves today (from the gift company if anyones interested) and there fab, really excited about using them, but i think i will be going with nicer ideas as used in the link above, rather than them reporting back to santa so much, thanks xOne day I will live in a cabin in the woods0 -
Nice link Notanewuser, they sell those kind of elves in Tiger if anyone has one near them. We don't do the reporting back thing although I do threaten to text Santa if the ELF is naughty!0
