Anyone recomend the best place online to hire a car. I want one for 5 days from Aug 2nd to Aug 6th. Best price I can get is around £94. Failing that, anyone know where I can get a promo code for a hire company.

thanks

I've used Arnold Clark service was fine and was the best deal I could find, worth a look.
    Booo!!!
  • Depends how far youre travelling. I hired a car from Arnold Clark several years ago and was involved in an accident. I was travelling from Glasgow to North Wales. Accident happened around Carlisle. Because AC dont have any English places they brought me back to Glasgow and provided me with a replacement car. I then had to start my journey again.

Their service was great but Id never ever use them again if I had a distance to go. Id always use a company like Hertz which had places near to my destination so that I could actually get transported to that office to sort any disasters out.

Just to let you know AC now has branches all over England - so it should be easier - just make sure you get the lowest excess possible.

Thanks. I am travelling within Scotland and will collect and drop the car off at Edinburg Airport.

What are their cars like? Their basic car doesn't appear to have Power Steering or Aircon. What was yours like?

    thanks

I used to work from them, they run a shuttle service from the airport to their depot - only about 10mins. I would personally not go any lower then a group 3 car - which is something like a focus, astra, they wont guarentee aircon. Petrol - you replace what you use - so if its 1/2 tank - go back with 1/2 tank.

How many people are travelling - how much luggage will you have, how many drivers will there be, do you need any childseats, 4 days or more is unlimited mileage, you have a £100 excess?

Some of these things may have changed so check if you go ahead and book, they will also need your flight details.

Gosh its strange how quick it all comes back to you after 3 years away!!

A group 1 would probably big enough then - but you might end up with a ford ka, which has quite a small boot. Forgot to say if you pick up the car at 9am you would return it back again around 9am - if it was into the afternoon you would be into another day. Hope you have a good time.
