  • i fell for this in june 2007, decided to cancel in november 2007 , notified all concerned but they refuse to cancel direct debit as this can only be done by a company called ' spare backup ' based in the USA. after dozens of phone calls , letters and emails i am still paying, the direct debit which includes pc performance for computer and backup, the two cannot be separated without starting a new contract for pc maintainence at £14.99 per month on an old computer, what a con. do not buy

Paulgifford i would just cancel the direct debit with my bank, they cannot stop you doing that and your bank has to act as instructed by you so will not give them any money.

for the £59.88 it costs to store 50Gb you could buy a removable hard drive with 160Gb of space!!

you can take it anywhere and you have control of who sees what's on it! :D

Also what happens with your Data on the PCworld site if you stop paying? does it get deleted / saved/ or sold on to the Russian mob for evil fraud purposes ??

Well thats kind of pc world. But i ask why take up such a service when you can backup localy in less time by using blank media or local disk drives.
Online file storage takes time to upload files. Lets day i have 1TB of data which i do because of my photography work i use in raw mode i use alot of space over a period of 2 years. A 1TB hard drive is under £100. Blank dvd disks are less then £1 a disk for up too 8.4gig dual layer disks. Either way its faster and in some cases cheaper and safet to backup to a local hard drive or a few. You can also get a fire safe too keep the hard drive in incase your worried off loss of data due to a fire.
Also rapidshare website for online storage offer a better deal then pc if you want online storage. You get unlimited file upload but the catch is you cant upload files larger then 200meg at a time. So you just have to rar the files to store online or zip them in to parts.
    :A
