Please help!

I recently joined an escorting website to make extra money but I ended up leaving as it really wasn't for me. However before I left, I asked a gentleman to lend me money. He said he would but that in return he wanted to see me this weekend and repeatedly over the next few months and that I was to leave the site for six months. I agreed but last night I signed back in and he immedialty text me saying that he had seen. It made me feel like I was being controlled, so this morning I text him saying that I couldn't keep up that end of the barging or agree to see him but that on the 28th November I would repay in full. He now says that he might go to the police for fraud, theft and prostitution. however I have told him that I will pay him back. Would he be able to get me in that much trouble? I didn't sleep with him, and told him it was a loan from the start. I am just really worried.

  • I think the police will probably tell him this is a civil matter. NB If the police heard a similar story from anyone else, they might be more inclined to investigate, but I am assuming this is a one-off.

He could sue you for return of the money - I suggest that the sooner you repay it the better.
  • Prostitution itself is not a crime in the UK, so the police won't be interested in that.

As for accusing you of theft and fraud - it sounds to me as though he's trying to blackmail you into sex, ie. obtain it by force. That's obviously against the law and even if you were a prostitute he would be committing a crime by doing so. I think the police would take a very dim view of his threats.

Thus the loan and any conditions you have agreed to would be for the civil court to sort out. I suspect that unless you have signed some cast iron legal contract he should be grateful that you are prepared to repay his money quickly.

He's saying it to scare you, and yes, it's controlling. And so what if he did - it's his word against yours. He'd then be admitting that he'd paid a prostitute, so it will do him no favours if he does, and I'm sure the police would be far more interested in him loaning you money and then suggesting you do him some 'favours' by seeing him.

My advice: pay him back - and meet him in a public place where you're not alone. Do not agree to see him in private - he could be anyone. Get out of there, change your phone number and have no other contact with him whatsoever.
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".
  • Don't meet him in person at all to pay in cash. Pay him back by paying directly into his bank account so that you have proof that you have paid him back.
  • I can't honestly imagine he'd go to the Police for fraud, theft and prostitution or attempt to sue you.

If he did he would be publicly advertising that he not only pays for sex, but has a controlling and strange personality. Also if he loans out money like that, he's probably a high earner with a status to maintain, which he wouldn't want to jeopardise.
