Men's fashion and January/Post-Christmas sales?

Hi All fellow shoppers,
I'm a bit clueless about best shopping practices for fashion-type items, and I'm looking for some advice.
I have my eye on a leather jacket and some boots, but I'm wondering if it's best to wait till after Christmas/January? Or even the end of the autumn/winter line (presumably easter time)? But I'm really not sure what the pattern of reductions would be like for men's high street fashion, or how much I could expect to save by waiting.
Specifically the items I like are in Diesel, but any general advice about men's high street fashion sales would be welcomed.
Also for items that don't sell out by the end of the line, what happens to them? Do they get hugely reduced as clearance? Or sold to companies like txmaxx? Or what?
Thanks

usually in the sale nowadays they bring stuff in specifially for the sales , i have worked in various stores that use this practice the items you want that are instore now arent generally reduced they might have a 20% off all stock sale for example but chances are the things you want wont be included"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0
