I love the irony of asking for a fee-free broker on a forum that itself recommends London & Country, a fee free broker, and has a plethora of problem threads about them.

This was raised in the past when you consider all the small local whole of market advisers out there that do it fees free. The response is that L&C have the capacity to handle the traffic that a recommendation that this site generates whereas small local firms do not.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Based on client feedback shared on here, I think that might be the wrong way round!I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Any mortgage application via a broker is only as good as the individual who is dealing with it.
Not going to knock T & C, but some clients might not be happy about putting their original passport/ driving licence etc in the post, and would prefer to speak to someone more local face to face.I am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I'm sure L&C has plenty of satisfied clients.
As a percentage of their likely turnover, the handful of complaints I've seen on here in the last couple of years is likely to be tiny.
Each to their own. We work face to face only and charge £250. If that doesn't suit, people go elsewhere. That's life...I am a mortgage broker. I think Kingstreet is worth £250 based on posts on here. So try to get a Kingstreet rather than a fee free broker but not sure how you find your Kingstreet near you. Personal recommendation apparently. That hasn't worked for me as my broker definitely has less knowledge but to be fair my broker doesn't need it as I'm an easy case.0

Unless I am missing something why do you need to meet the broker and why do they have to be near? I have had a 5 mortgages sorted out by 2 brokers (fee free) who i've never met in person and aboth live mileas away. All have been trouble free in terms of information flowing to and fro.0
