Has anybody managed to find a cheap version equivalent to Cadbury's chocolate?

Aldi and Lidl's just don't compare :/

As someone who knows a little bit about chocolate, I doubt it. Cadburys has a very specific taste.

Aldi's (I can't speak for Lidl's) are far better than Cadbury's but most of us in this country are brought up on Cadbury's and that's what we are used to. It's unfortunate as we've learned to like an inferior product.

I very much doubt anyone replicates it, so you're either stuck with buying it or developing your taste towards a higher cocoa product and one less based around highly processed vegetable fats.

Cadbury's have changed their recipe since they were taken over by Mondoleez - even those of us that live locally to the factory no longer eat it because it now has a strange chemically after taste.

Aldi chocolate especially the brand Mozer Roth is far nicer and these days I prefer to eat that than Cadbury's which is no longer creamy in taste.

You could try Galaxy but then to me that has the same strange taste that Cadbury's now has. Green & Blacks is owned by Cadbury but that brand has always had a different taste due to its higher cocoa content.

Lindt chocolate is pretty good too.

If you no longer like Cadbury's why not educate your palate and try something different?

I find the Choceur (sp?) one from Aldi has a very similar texture to Cadburys and is much creamier.
I've hugely gone off Cadburys now - their bars and share bags have become so tiny for such a huge price.

I remember years ago one of the bbc programmes doing a blind taste test of cadburies in France or Belgium, and the Cadburies winning by a mile. ( it was when the thing about whether it could be called chocolate because of the vegetable fats).

I'm quite fussy about chocolate but there is some awful chocolate on the continent ( and elsewhere) too, IMO inferior to what Brits are brought up on ( I wasn't brought up on chocolate, and what I had was international origin)

They no longer put a glass and a half of milk in Cadbury's chocolate. They don't look after their staff particularly well either now.

Lets get a little perspective. If we were born and raised in the good old US of A, we'd think of Hershey's as the gold standard rather than the bottom of the barrel. :D

Cadbury's is such a rip off since Kraft took over and I say that not out of sentiment or connection with them but on cold hard facts.

Their fruit and nut stretches the description with 2 pieces of nut in the large bar. Definitely never voting for them again with my pound.

You should go into marks & Spencer. Splash out on the chocolate that are the small round disk - swiss milk (??) then do a blind taste test. BET you can't work out which is the choceur- 5 bars for £1.25 and the swiss (?) one tube (£2 I think)!is

Cadburys is half the brand it used to be.

My favourite chocolate is probably a "lindor" bar by Lindt
