Hi every one help and advice please, just received my tax credits final notice for last year.
Along with no longer qualifying this year, because my earnings have gone past the threshold for claiming which is good, I have now been presented with past years over payments 2011, £919.32. 2012, £713.32. Total £1631.64. Over payment off £385.66. for 2014.They said that this had happend because any over payments would come from future awards.
Total £2018.32. I have had a quick word with them and they have said this needs too be paid back stright away or they will put it out for collection by a debt agency.I am already on a voluntary debt managment plan which I have been maintaining with my current payments and creditors .Any help on how too go about sorting this out.

From what I understand, you can repay in instalments for tax credit overpayments...I had a small overpayment a couple of years ago (£248) and they were fine with me paying back over a year after I explained to them I couldn't afford to pay it all straight away. Have you offered any payment plan to the hmrc? Sorry I can't be of more help xCurrent Debt - Credit Card £3231.14; Hire Purchase £4,555; Catalogue £562.60, Loan £4754.880

Is it a self managed DMP? If so, add it in to the total amount of debt as things stand and re-propose some pro-rated offers to them.
It's a non-priority debt and can be treated the same as a credit card/personal loan/overdraft/etc"No sacrifice, no victory"

I was overpaid by £1400 odd. I spoke to HMRC yesterday and offered them £15 a month which they accepted even though it will take over seven years..I have no intention of letting it get remotely that far.
0300 300 3804 is the number for the debt side of HMRC. You will get through MUCH quicker than the usual 0345 one.Sealed Pot Challenge:

I was overpaid by over £2000 and had a letter saying it either had to be paid immediately, or I could make an arrangement to pay over a year. After going through my Income and Expenditure and seeing that there was physically no way I could pay it off that quickly, they agreed that I could pay it off at £15 a month even though that will take a good few years!!
Work out your I and E as accurately as possible, then give them a ring and go through it with them. When they see you can't afford to pay more than a certain amount each month, I'm sure they will be willing to agree to a payment arrangement that you can afford. Good luck!:ADFW Nerd 145
