I feel really bad. I have just emailed the person who runs the site. If she wants me too I will have this post deleted. Aww I am a hormonal woman at the mo and don't want to be causing trouble. Makes me upset! - and I can't watch the RSPCA adverts. I'm in pieces.

Don't its her loss - She is going to lose 100s of contact details that she could have emailed when her next offer is on and 100s of people that will hit the website and may have bought something. Seems very unprofessional.
I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something

So let me get this right. The owner of the website is complaining about the amount of entries originating from this site? I thought that was the idea of the whole thing?

I know but I do feel bad. She hasn't replied yet. I'll edit the title.

i wouldnt feel so bad about it , this is a comping site and you posted a comp , with a link to the site that in my eyes promotes it for them , this is how we compers find new sites , dont know about anyone else but i usually have a good snoot round sites ive not seen before and add them to favs if i like them , and this for me is the only way to do it , i think she was over reacting , the prize was not affected by us entering so i dont see the problem , it wasnt costing her money in any way us entering , oh and she is advertising us too :)
my name is Kit and im addicted to competitions , the what if is my driving force :D !!

    Hiya Alison

As kit said don't feel bad about it, it has happened before on here, had one stroppy moo join up just to have a go about a comp that someone posted that breached their website rules so all MSE'ers entries would be disqualified even tho they abided by the actual competition rules stated on her website.

But on the other hand we have had people join the site to say thank you for promoting their websites and competitions which is really lovely :)

A way to get round the linking from MSE problem is to right click and copy the shortcut for the website and paste it into another browser window, so it doesn't look like its linked from here

Personally I think they should be grateful for the free advertising, and its a shame because they could have lost some genuine revenue from interested MSE'ers

    kips :)
  • Alison, I agree- I emailed seperately as I wanted to win them and she told me that she would accept my entry and added that she had received some very horrid and rude entries which is why she wanted to have the addresses so that if someone really was interested, they would add this too - I still see everyones view point, but as she has explained her reasons I see that side of things too - I think she is grateful for the free advertising, but bemused at being sent inappropriate stuff too

I sent her a very nice email - saying I didn't mind that it was me that posted and I didn't mean to cause offence - I wasn't rude at all. I haven't had a reply. Oh well. I tried.

    Hiya

I just received a very lovely email from Wallace

Didn't want to copy and paste it all but here are 2 paragraphs from it.

I do not wish to seem like a horrid person, but it was necessary to call an end to this as a very small business - there were some spam email's in the responses with more than unusual addresses - there were rude connotations and as my young son helps me with the entries, I was a bit startled that some people would send this sort of stuff in a competition entry.

Again, thank you for taking the time to let me know your honourable intentions, it has restored my faith in the power of posting as well as the genuine ones out there - I have now added address request so that if one is really interested, it would seem that someone would take the time to fill it out.

I emailed back saying I just can't believe that an MSEer was rude. Yikes its sad when a few people spoil it for the rest of us.
