Back to supply or stay in temp contract

Hi all,
Any advice on the following dilemma would be much appreciated.
I supplied in primary schools daily from May - July to much success, was given a lot of work by just 1 agency.
I accepted a post to start in Sept working with adults as I was told although it was only 10 weeks contract to begin with, there was the possibility of it being made permanent in Jan. It has now transpired that this post will not be permanent and will continue on 10 week contracts for the foreseeable future.
This really isn't any good for me as it means I am only working and getting paid for 30 weeks out of 52 and this will not net me enough money to get a mortgage as this was my main reason for me taking the job (the promise of the permanent contract).
I am now considering returning to supply teaching as it is less word and more enjoyable than my current post. I have worked out that if I am given steady work 3 days a week, my income will be the same than if I stayed in the 10 week contract.
Am I bit crazy for giving up 10 weeks guaranteed work for 10 weeks Jan - March to return to supply where my hours will not be guaranteed? I have done a bit of work with the agency this term as I have afternoons off and they reassure me they have lots of work available and they certainly did when I worked for them before.
Mortgage wise, which would be a better bet?
