The 'shopping list' for my local food bank (linked to Trussell Trust) is quite basic and there is no mention of 'treats' beyond biscuits/ snack bars, jam, tinned fruit or tinned sponge puddings.

They also accept money, which I assume is used for fresh food stuffs.

Last year there was a thread about a food bank refusing to accept boxes of chocolates etc. I don't know what the policy is locally.

There is a special Xmas list. Is called Christmas appeal. Donations by 6 DEC. I think is lovely idea. Can even give nuts not sure if only in packets. It is on Russell's trust web site.

Worth checking individual food banks - only some are Trussell Trust ones, lots of others are independent and have their own rules. Ours accepts eggs, fresh fruit and veg, lots of other stuff beside standard tins, packets etc. More common sense and less restrictive than TTrust banks.
