    Another interpretation ....

    Under the WTD, you have a right not to work more than 48 hours a week. You are waiving that right and, effectively, agreeing to work more than 48 hours a week if you are requested to or if you feel pressured into doing so.

    It seems as though you are required to agree to this and then give three months' notice to disagree. So for three months at least, you could be working more than 48hrs a week and you would have no grounds for complaint under the WTD i.e. you could not point to the WTD and say "I don't have to work these extra hours".
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
