Defrosted frozen veg

Hi,
I have just found a defrosted soggy bag of what was once frozen mixed veg (peas green beans, carrots) in the boot of the car, purchased 2 days ago. They look ok, but smell slightly strange, but then veg does :o Do you think It's safe to use, perhaps in a soup if I make it today, or throw it out? Thanks:)

Veg isn't like meat is it, it wouldn't go off in two days would it ?
I think i'd make a big pan of soup then you can freeze it.

Its been fairly cold lately - especially at night - but is your car parked somewhere where it get hot during the day?

Honestly, if you're happy with them and the odd smell is 'odd' rather than 'off', I'd go for it - but then I'm not feeding and small children or sick people so theres very little risk.

do post back a couple of days after to let us know we've not killed you off :rotfl:
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Smell is a good indicator that something is inedible or not. If the smell is rancid, do not eat. Just because it is veg, doesn't mean if off it is any less dangerous than meat.
  • If it smells peculiar better not risk it. :)
  • I decided to chuck it away, better safe than sorry!
    Thanks everyone x
  • Glad you did, not worth the risk x
