Employer has asked for a DBS check

Hi,

My employer needs a Standard DBS check as I'm moving into a exempt role. They've asked me to do one. But every umbrella company I find is for employers to use and not employees.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

You can ask for a basic disclosure yourself. Check with your employer that this is OK.

If the employer needs it, they organise it - unless part of your job is to organise the obtaining of DBS checks.

Has no one else ever done this role in the organisation and therefore they've not had to obtain one in the past? Does your line manager need to have the check done too?

Is it really a DBS check or just a Disclosure Scotland report that they want?

    Why is the role exempt?
  • It's a financial services role. Yes they have had to get dB's checks before but it's a small company the last time they did it it was a crb check I believe. It needs to be a standard disclosure not basic.
