Marriage doesn't hurt but joint account does?

Hi,

I know Martin says that but if you have a joint mortgage anyway it doesnt matter any more?

My husband and I recently bought a house in joint names so that means we are already linked and another joint account will not make any difference to our credit scores?

It would just be so much simpler to join our main income and main bills into one account that we are both named on.

Marriage nor joint accounts "hurt", the former has no impact at all and the later simply creates a link between you but then only if its a class of account that are reported to CRAs (ie loans, current accounts, mortgages etc). If that link "hurts" depends on the relative scores of each party.

Having multiple links is no different than having just one, to the best of my knowledge though ultimately each lender makes their own interpretation of the facts and so in theory they may be able to differentiate if they wanted to
