Hi,
I have an experienced hire interview at PWC, it will consist of two competency interviews, does anyone have any idea of what I should be focusing on or what would be asked?
Thanks

Competency interviews focus on aspects of the PwC professional http://www.pwc.co.uk/careers/student/applying/pwc-professional.jhtml so use that as a basis for your preparationSealed Pot Challenge #239

What part of the business are you looking to get into?
When I did my interviews with them for their consultancy arm it was a number of different interviews and tasks. Most were straight forward and nothing too out the ordinary - a bit of a blend between standard pro interview and graduate scheme entry. The only slightly unusual part for me was effectively being given a brief on a potential client and being asked to create a 10 minute initial engagement pitch with flipcharts
Certainly my feedback was that they liked the approach and particularly the tools I used on the charts but would prefer more conclusions being drawn from the background info. I got offered the job but didnt take it0 -
Hi, thanks for the reply.
Do you know how fast they got back to you?
Just had the interview, its an internal operations role, I felt I had the worst possible first round ever, however somehow proceeded into the second round right after the first. Is this normal practice?
Thanks again0 -
It's only normal practice to invite someone back to the next round of interviews if they have impressed! So well done!
If you feel you didn't perform well you should take some time to analyse your first interview performance to help you improve for the next round. What questions did you answer poorly? What should you have said instead?
Make a note of these, as it is common for the next round of interviews to probe the areas where you didn't perform so well last time around. Your first interviewer will have made notes - or spoken directly with the interviewer for round 2 - and will have highlighted areas that they were unsure about in your first interview.
Make sure you have great answers ready in these areas for round 2!0 -
Hi thanks for the response,
I meant that the 2nd interview was held directly after the first, I was wondering if anyone knew if this was standard pwc procedure for experienced hires as I I was only scheduled for a one hour interview.
also if anyone has experience on how long they take to get back to you, it'd be appreciated.
Thanks again0 -
Oops, sorry - misunderstanding!
In any case, I think this is a good sign. I used to work at a global consultancy (not PWC) and if an interviewee was good it was not uncommon for the interviewer to quickly ask around the office if anyone else could perform a second interview there and then. This is so they could fast-track the recruitment process, rather than set-up another interview at a later date.
Personally I would say this is positive, but I don't want to get your hopes up unnecessarily - only you know how well you performed, and only the interviewers know if you've got the job!
Best of luck...0
