Suddenly lots of financial junk mail

Options
In the last couple of weeks or so I have suddenly started to receive junk mail. All from credit card and loan companies offering their wares.

Has anyone else suddenly started receiving similar?

The reason I'm bring it up is that a few weeks ago I got my letter from the electrol register, highlighting that I could request to be on the 'ex directory' electrol roll which I did. For the very reason to avoid the junk mail bandits.

I'm wondering if there's been a raid on the electrol list by such companies in response to the recent upsurge in people registering to vote for the recent independence referendum

What you refer to as the "ex directory" roll specifically excludes credit reference agencies. They always have access to the complete register.
These agencies can sell on your details to other companies.

However, it's more likely that in the recent past you have had financial dealings with, or made an enquiry to, a company who has then sold on your details.
